Maine Coon Breeders

You remain responsible, forever, for what you have tamed."

Finding a Maine Coon Breeder

If you are interested in bringing a Maine Coon into your life, we applaud your decision. Now you have to find one. These are some of the people who care enough to improve and protect the health and characteristics of the Maine Coon.

If you have decided to buy a pure-bred Maine Coon, choose a breeder carefully, interview them, believe that they care about every cat they adopt into a new home. A cat is a lifetime contract. You should expect to have a longtime relationship with the breeder as well. Choose carefully.

A good breeder will ask you questions about yourself and your home, other pets, your disciplinary style. A good breeder will also have you sign a contract with certain requirements; for example, they will not permit free-range indoor/outdoor cats or declawing, will require spay/neuter in most cases. They will want to be the first person you talk to if you have questions or problems or if, for some reason, you ever need to give up the cat.

If you have a Maine Coon and wish to send us a pointer to your own trusted breeder, or you are a breeder on our list and wish to nominate friends of yours who should be listed here, please send us email.
